The Ultimate Break-In & Conditioning Oil for Baseball & Softball Gloves & Mitts
﷯We discovered that Garrison Gold Oil--designed to make dry leather supple--was ideal for baseball & softball gloves & mitts. It is the ultimate break-in oil as it speeds up the flexibility of the leather--making the glove easy to close when catching the ball. It also protects the glove over the season, and because Garrison Gold is highly concentrated, only a light coating is required to maintain it. The advantage is--unlike other glove oils--little is required. This ensures that extra weight is not added. Garrison Gold, keeps the leather “alive” by enriching and preserving the leather while keeping it supple. Break-In Instructions: There are multiple “methods” to break in a glove, but there's only one correct way if you want to keep your glove in top shape and for it to perform at its best. Incorrect methods include: dunking the glove in water, freezing it, sleeping on it under the mattress, heating it in a stove or microwave, running it over with a car, slathering it with shaving cream or petroleum jelly, just to name a few forms of abuse. With these methods, the glove is “softened” by effectively destroying the integrity of the leather. These methods are guaranteed to shorten the life of the glove and can impair its proper functioning. Notice that when you close your glove around the ball there is a natural “hinge” where the leather gives to allow the hand to naturally close around the ball--that is where application of Garrison Gold should be concentrated. This natural hinge is where the palm of the glove meets the fingers. Put a small amount of Garrison Gold on your finger and work it into the hinge area. That is where the leather needs to be softened for easy of closing. Use sparingly, as more can always be added later. Additionally, it is important to form the pocket by adding Garrison Gold to where the ball will be naturally caught within the palm and webbing. Play catch as soon as the oil is applied. The flexing action of your hand will work the oils into the leather. Remember, breaking in the glove is a process and will require many sessions. More oil is not better. Consistency is the key. After each break-in session, place your ball in the pocket and wrap it closed with an Ace bandage (this works best, as shoe laces or belts can dig into the leather). Maintenance Instructions: Make sure your glove is clean -- Garrison Grime Gone is an ideal first step. Place a quarter-sized amount of Garrison Gold Oil in your palm and rub your hands together vigorously to warm it. Work the oil over the entire glove including the lacing, front and back--indeed wherever there’s leather. Remember to apply to the inside where you insert your hand. This area is exposed to acids and salts from sweat and needs added protection. During the Season, with regular intensive use, oil weekly. At season’s end, oil before storing. Remember, Garrison Gold Oil is a blend of fifteen all-natural, non-toxic ingredients--a safety benefit that passes to you or your children. Lastly, a youth baseball coach we spoke with, while developing this system, said: "Nothing discourages young players more than a stiff glove. Once properly broken-in, catching becomes easy and the game becomes fun." We'll help you do that! Thanks and enjoy. Colorado Made & Rocky Mountain Tested Garrison Leather Care
